I have been trying to solve a PCM 0410 issue the past two weeks with the help of this site but still can't locate the problem.
When I purchased the car 3-weeks ago it had a bad oil pressure sensor and a bad vacuum leak. The sensor was replaced and the vacuum leak fixed (I thought) as I swear I can still here a small vacuum leak.
In researching the site I found the following could be the cause of the PCM 0410:
Bad Air Pump
Vacuum leak under the battery
Ground issue
If I am correct the air pump is located by the driver’s headlight with the air hose running along the inside of the front fender. I checked the pump and fan and it looks o.k now I am trying to determine the vacuum lines that could cause this outside of the one under the battery.
My questions are as follows:
Where is the air pump ground located?
Does the vacuum line from the back of the intake manifold have anything to do with the air pump operation?
Anything else I should check for as I also have an HVAC ground issue according to the DTC codes that I think might be related.
I think I responded to one of your earlier posts. Sorry to hear you are still having problems. To answer one of your questions, yes the vacuum line at the back of the intake manifold does have something to do with the A.I.R. pump. That line not only supplies vacuum for the operation of the doors in your HVAC it also supplies vacuum to a vacuum operated solonoid switch on the PCM (located behind the right front wheel). I think the amount of vacuum you are pulling in the manifold, depending on engine speed, activates the PCM vacuum switch which inturn energizes the A.I.R. pump to come on and to inject air into the exhaust manifolds. I am far from an expert but I did have the vacuum problem (the 0410 code on the DIC) as well as the non operating HVAC doors (air blew from all outlets equally all the time) after I changed out my oil pressure sender. It resolved itself after I reconnected the vacuum line at the back of the intake. You may have had more than one vacuum leak. Good luck.
I think I might have found something but am unsure of where this connection goes or what it is for.
In checking the air pump, vacuum hoses, etc I found a cut connection on the passenger side at the front of the car. It is a 2 wire plug that is attached to the fan shroud on the passenger side. At this time nothing is plugged in to this and I did find 2 cut wires about 4-5 inchs away from this plug. I checked the service manual and can't find what thsi plug is for. Should something plug into this? If so, what does this wire control?
