Default Electricals-Radio, etc.

Recently, my radio will "snap" when I step on the brakes and the headlights will dim. Make/break connection. ?? Also, the radio, which used to keep playing 'til I open the door, (RAP) now shuts off as soon as I turn the key off. Any thoughts as to where the problem might be???? Many thanks, Dave

Sounds like one of the noise suppression capacitors internally has gone bad. Simply put, you'll need a new radio or pay to have it repaired.

David; thanks for the reply... any connection between this and the headlight dimming issue? Or is that a coincidental matter? Dave

I doubt it. You should check your battery connections and make sure they are clean and tight. Also, always pull your codes to see if anything is showing up there.

Default Radio Problem

Hi as was said, check the both cables to the battery and the starter for clean and tight connections, also the wire to the alt and the fuse block. It would be a good idea to have the battery load tested as it sounds like it is getting ready to fail, check the volts across the terminals, fully charge it should not be below 12.6 volts and definitely not below 12.2 half charged. The lights dimming when you hit the brakes usually means not enough current left in reserve.
Good Luck
