I have a 99 frc and i recently ran the battery out because i left an interior light i left on. So i jumped the car which was extremely hard to get enough volts to start, and once it did it wanted to keep dieing. The rpms would drops to under 400 and try to die than jump back up. The alternator was making a whining noise so i replaced it. Jumped the car again but it still doesnt want to idle right. Im going to let the car sit over night and see if it starts. If it doesnt it must be the battery correct? The DIC voltage shows usually around 13.4 but it randomly drops to 11.8-12.9 and than does back up to 13.4 or higher when steady driving.
Check out this post... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=2075767 there is some great info in there so far from Bill Curlee and others. Of course, your problem is not identical, but they have some great diagnostic advice.
Someone in here posted about batteries with a lot of really good information but basically said that if you drain it all the way, replace it as it will supposedly never fully charge up again. You probably need to do the idle relearn procedure too.
ok so the car started right up this morning at 14 volts and than i turned on the lights and it dropped to 12.9 than came back up to 13.9. i than turned on the radio ac and fog lights and it dropped every time but went back up to 13.9 does that sound normal?
its now settled back down around 13.5volts and when the ac is on like 13.3. and randomly when i come to a stop with the clutch pushed in the rpms will jump from 600ish to 1200ish and back down and it will do that a couple times. anyone know why?
