Default engine cutting in and out

Ok well left work for lunch today...while i was buckling i felt a engine stumble was missing a little....did it a few times then quit...could see the rpm drop to 500 and resume normal idle....after i started up at hardees same thing....now a few hours later after work i started it up to go home...same...missing....went to pull away and the car jerked real bad (this was during my clutch release) almost acting like a fuel related issue. and continued to do this through my ride to autozone and then back home.....I think Im going to get a new fuel filter and replace that...went to autozone and got some fuel system cleaner and filled up on gas...hoping maybe it was bad gas because i put 10bux in gas in it yesterday and it never did it before today....same thing after fillup on the way home......also threw to p0102s on the way home....not sure why....never threw any misfire codes.....now the engine is not constantly missing or anything sounds normal at idle when not missing and get a few RPMs in it and it clears up sooooooo

anybody have any of these symtoms before? Hook me and my daily driver up

Most probable cause is secondary ignition ( wires and plugs). First thing to do is to make sure all the plug wires are in good shape and on the coil and spark plug correctly.

How many miles are on your plugs and wires?? Are they clean and tight??

You should make SURE that each wire is properly connected to the spark plug and coil tower. They usually pop off the tower but can also pop off the the plug. Either one will cause a miss.

Try and listen for arcing . Put the car in a DARK area and see if you can see any arcing.

When it falls on it face, see if any of the gages on your IPC cycle (sweep) or jump. The reason I mention this is the ignition switch can cause this issue. Something to keep an eye on.

Check this thread, particularly post #9. I know the post is about a different DIC code, but your symptoms are very similar. I read this awhile back and went out to look at my '04 and guess what! Had I not looked at it, I would have had problems eventually.

Here is an idea.. disconnect the MAF, the car should still run but will be using speed density (MAP sensor) if the problem seemes to cure it's self other then the check eng. light and a maf code.. I'd say you may need a new MAF. Also I would check for air leaks between the MAF and intake. Just some thoughts..

I've heard lots of times where the coolant temp sensor will cause severe problems for the engine should it go bad. Another possibility is the PVC valve and its connection tube to the intake. It can and will develop holes in the tube and in my case, out of sight on the bottom. It was only causing the engine to stumble upon taking off from a light and idling issues. You might have more than one item contibuting to your issues which would complicate things by far. Did you check the ground wires on the rear of the driver's side head?

Kurt, any resolution to your problem? Did the MAF cleaner help? Did the fuel filter replacement help at all?
