The OEM tunnel plate needs to come off. So does an after market tunnel plate like an Elite or similar. Of course, you could always install a remote bleeder and avoid all of that in the future.

I haven't done it but I'd guess it's highly likely with the heads off and all the associated stuff the bleeder would be easily accessible. It's on the top drivers side of the bell housing/torque tube. I'd give that a shot before belly crawlin' and removing the plate.

I'm going to say maybe when the heads are off the car. It does open a lot of room and you may be able to get it with a ratchet first, then close and put on a hose and re-open to bleed with an open end. Otherwise it will make a mess. You might even be able to get in the RPM remote bleeder if there is enough visibility and access.

You better have some long skinny arms if you plan on reaching the bleeder screw from the top. There is very little room between the body and bellhousing. It is hard enough to reach from the bottom with the tunnel cover off. If you are doing heads, you already got the exhaust out of the way. Just pull the cover, it'll only take a15 more minutes,
