I pulled my AutoMeter Shift Lite out of another car about two years ago. Now I want to install it in the 2001 Corvette and cannot find the instructions. Would someone help me with directions for the three wires - Red, Green, and Black. I would guess Red goes to #10 white at GM Red PCM connector, and black to ground.?
Thanks,
Mike
Re: AutoMeter ProShift Lite Instructions?? (99 Corvette)
Jerry,
Thanks, that helps. It looks like a big job and I didn't really want to have to pull it right back out so that I could use the A/C or vent.
Mike
I guess I'll go to Jeg's and ask then to see some directions about were to hook the green wire.
Re: AutoMeter ProShift Lite Instructions?? (ReddyZ06)
Mike,
Let me know how hard it is to get it in the vent. I've been thinking about putting a shift light in my air vent and wireing it so it will flash when my 8500 goes off. I would like to know what all you have to take apart, and maybe see where the best place to run the wires.
Re: AutoMeter ProShift Lite Instructions?? (99 Corvette)
Jerry,
I still need to track down some details (green wire, etc) before I start on mine. I probably won't get into it for a couple weeks. There is a previous post however by "nevrenuf" From April titled "Check out my Shift Light Install" that has terrific photos. (I don't know how to attach a link to it, but a search under that title in the archives should work.) He took virtually the entire dash out - he says in about half and hour, but it looks like a much bigger job.
Your idea to wire a shift light to an 8500 and place it in the vent area sounds great. AutoMeter also has the smaller ProLite that might take up less room and might still be bright enough.
Thanks,
Mike
