I was reading that the Blackwing is great on c5s upto the the 01 model but has some power loss on the 02 model. Will I need to do any other mods to keep the a/f ratio correct?
I don't believe you actually lose power on an '02. The intake system on the '02s has been improved so the Blackwing doesn't give you as much of a gain as prior model years. You should still end up at the same general level. As for the A/F ratio, that seems to be a car to car issue but most don't require any changes for a Blackwing install. The '02s should already be set up for a higher flow rate so I'd think it would be even less likely that you'd need to adjust the A/F ratio.
I was going to install one in my 02, but decided to wait to see how others make out. I had found an ariticle a while back stating that mods on an 02 were going to be harder because the car wouldn't respond as in previous years but I can't find that article now.
We Auto tapped an 02 car with the Blackwing installed. We did not find the car to run lean with this mod...
I do remember hearing about a post claiming the 02s running lean with the filter. So far, we have had no problems whatsoever with the Blackwing.
I still feel its the best filter on the market for the money.
DRM tested an '02 Z06 with a Blackwing and it went pig rich and lost about 20 hp at high rpms. This hp loss was explained by the experts on a/f matters in previous posts.
