Default Battery question

Hi 2002 C-5 auto

I have not driven my vette for over three weeks and the last time l drove it l forgot to put a my trickle charge on it for 4 days but my D-Tek showed that it was fully charged yesterday but when l tried to start it, it was dead. I had a little juice but not enough to start it.

I have the orig delco battery which is approx 6 yrs old and l know that they have a life span of only 4yrs at best.

Also l plan on replacing it with a red top, but where should l get one put into it. Dealer? I am not looking to save a dime and wind up costing me a quarter.

Thanks

Alan

Congratulations on getting six years out of your original Delco battery!

There's been enough Forum discussion about Red Tops to write a book.
Do a search, and you'll find out all the pro's and con's about them. I replaced my original Delco AGM battery with a Sears Die Hard, and an acid absorbant battery mat placed under it.

If you decide to get a Red Top, Advance Auto Parts has them on sale this month.

Default Battery absorbant Mat

I just called Advance and they have it for $125 with a $25 mail in rebate.

Thanks

Do they sell the mat? If not where can l get one?

I got the mat from Eckler's, along with some other things, a few years ago.

Check the larger parts stores, like NAPA, to find it locally.

My OEM AC Delco was 7 years old when I replaced it. It was still starting my C5, but I felt 7 years was enough. The new AC Delco Professional batteries are more tolerant of drains than are the typical AGM batteries and will, in all likelyhood, last many, many years. $99.00 at Summit Racing.

By the way, if you DO get a Redtop, you don't need an absorption mat; Redtops are leakproof.

I purchased a red top a year ago at O'Reilly Aoutmotive and paid $130.
