Default oil pressure sensor relocate

Hi all,
I'm trying to complete the assembly of the relocation mod on this and I have all parts ready to go. I have a pressure sensor that I bought years ago that is part # 12562230 (It's BRASS ). It does not fit in any of my fittings, like the auto meter 2268 adaptor and I'm trying to figure out what I need to get to put it all together. I don't wanna run out and buy the Buick sensor, since I already have a brand new brass one ready to go. Can somebody possibly help me out by telling me the thread size on the sensor or the fitting size I will need to connect my sensor to my mod assy. It is the mod post that Berryj posted on page 14 of the relocate thread with the blue fittings and all, except that I don't have the Buick sensor, I have a stock C5 one, I think. Thanks for any help.

If you're doing the braided line mod, what I did was take the sender and the braided line to a speed shop and have them match them up for you. I am not sure on the thread size though. Sorry. We have a Lopers down here and that's where I got everything I needed for the relocation. Good luck with yours. You'll be happy you did it.

Hi all,
Thanks for the reply, mstromquist. I don't know of a Lopers here in Vegas, but if I can't do this the easy way, then I'll just break down and buy the Buick sensor.....ridiculous. There's gotta be a part that can mate these two fittings up.......jeesh!

Like Mark said, just take the sensor & related fittings to a hot rod or speed shop. They will be able to match you up with a fitting & save you from spending another $50 for Buick sensor.
If there aren't any speed shops in Vegas (seem's very unlikely) take part to Lowe's or Home Depot & get a clerk to help you match up part, they'll even tear open plastic bags to check fit for you, I know I did mine that way.

I would just relocate sensor to the front of the block like this and extend the wires.

That was my first choice when doing mine. But I have a 98 and there was already something plugged into it. I think it's the temp sensor for the oil. Not positive on that though. That's the reason I went with the braided line mod. His 97 will probably have the same thing I would imagine. Would be something to check out though and you won't need to buy any of the other stuff. Just some extra wire. Now you have something else to consider.

On 99 at least oil temp sensor mounted by the oil filter.

Be careful! That spot on the front of the block is not equivilent to the stock location! The stock pressure sensor location is on the OUTLETside of the oil filter. The plug on the front of the block is INLET side of the filter (whis is also the outlet of the pump).

I doubt it will make much difference (maybe 3 pounds of pressure) ?

Do you have any data on differences ??

I don't think the drop across the filter is the issue. The real risk is if something goes wrong or a filter is defecitve & has excessive pressure drop. In that case, the pressure in the oil galleys will drop, but pressure measured up stream of the filter will actually go up.

Monitoring pressure in the galley, down stream of everything that can break, fail or be defective is what you want. That's why the sensor is there.

HI Everybody:

If you are relocating the sensor because you feel that it will fail alot and need to make it easier to replace? You do not need to. The sensors are now made by another company that has fixed the problems of the past. No more muliple failures weeks apart.

We have change many with no failures. Now if you want to relocate the sensor just to make you comfortable about sensor replacement. Be my guest but the sensor was put in that location for a reason and relocating it in a another location will change pressure readings.
