I am running no sleeves since I did my headers and I'm doing just fine!

Considering putting them on for a NASA event...

Why not use the stock ones?

I got mine from Summit when I put the headers on. They don't list them in their catalog for C5s, but when you call they have them available.

Had some trouble getting my wires to connect properly after swapping headers, so I figure I better leave well enough alone.

I have done a half-day road course event with no shields and doing just fine as well.

My 2003 Z06 OEM wires had metal heat shields on the spark plug boots. When I installed haeders I left them on. Don't recall hearing the OEM replacement wires come with them, they are probably a seperate part. Someone else may know this and chime in!

I think Kamil is referring to the KoolSox type of sleeves that protect the length of wire. The OE metal heat shields protect the boot portion of the wire but not the wire itself.

I am running KoolSox w/ my LG Pros because I have wires w/ angled boots (Magnecor) and the OE heat shields don't fit . From what I've observed there's adequate clearance between the wires and the header tubes that I probably did not need the KoolSox. Since I had already purchased them, I threw them on.

IMO, unless your wires are coming into direct contact w/ the headers I don't think they're necessary.

When I installed my 8.5mm MSD wires, I put back on the metal heat protectors then some KoolSox over the whole lenght of the wires. I don't have headers, but like the look! I think I bought all my stuff from Jegs.
