I checked on this as well... I think it takes a little more work than you would expect. There are a few misc. parts that are involved then what I thought.
I to looked into this and I believe there are more parts to change then you think. First I know the wiring plug for the back of the head unit is different. So a harness change might be in place right up front. Then I believe there might be changes with the duct doors. I am curious to see if someone ever tackled this. The only thing I can say is a lot of guys chime in with some problems on the electronic head, and I haven't heard any problems, to date with the non-electronic head unit. Hope someone else has input on this.

Don't waste your $ or your time on dual zone. I have it in my C5 and it's lame! Think about it, how could it possibly control temperature at two different levels in a small closed enviornment. Yes, the vents do blow slightly different temps but nothing really noticeable.
Thanks for all of the responses. I have since learned that in addition to the defroster and a couple of other vents under the dash the BCM must be changed. This = large bucks. I have decided to put the $ into performance upgardes.

Exactly what I did. I initially wanted it as well, since my wifes' Lexus has the dual zone, but after researching it, not only is it alot of work to change, but alot of people that have the dual zone don't like it.
I have the dual zone in both C5’s. Personally I think it is over rated with great potential for malfunction.
I find myself adjusting the temperature up and down a little while driving, just like I do in my other vehicles with their non-automatic systems.
Same here! If there were a way to convert the Dual Zone to a manual system, I'd do it in a heart beat. I have already had to repair a failed actuator door... $700 donation to the dealership (although this was before I was a Forum member... probably could have done it myself had I been on here!!)
