Drove home from work yesterday, vette worked fine.
Went to start it this morning, and nothing, no crank, lights, anything.
So I just throw the charger on it, and take off in the truck.
Come back, charger says battery is full, showing 14.2Vdc.
get it, turn the key. not a thing happens.
I grab my fluke, and just for giggles, I ohm out from the neg. terminal to the ground point below the fuse box. Shows an open. WTF.
I grab the neg. battery cable, with the intention of pulling it out, and as soon as I touch it, the hood light comes on, and the radar detector starts, and I am able to start the car.
works fine now.
wierdest thing. The cable is physically fine... unless there is some pinhole damage somewhere.
The crimp in the cable sounds like it is bad. Heard about this a couple of times now here in the forum. If I was you, I would replace that cable completely and be done with it.
Strip the black plactic cover off of it and inspect it. You should be able to figure out if the terminal is bad. If you see discolleration or corrosion, thats the issue. Were your terminals properly torqued to the battery. There suppose to be torqued to 11 FT/LBS.
