Hey folks, just got my new [read: used] LS6 intake. Came off a motor that went poof, and subsequently has oil /everywhere/ on it and in it. I've got a pressure washer, but how would you guys go about cleaning the insides and outs of it? (Any tips you can slide my way of swapping it on for the current one on my car would be welcomed as well, i've bookmarked the step by step on ls1tech..)
Thanks!

I would spray that puppy down liberally with brake cleaner to get all the gunk out of it, in the throttle body hole and the 8 intake passages. After that was done I would run a hose through it to rinse out the brake cleaner, then fill a 5 gallon bucket with hot water and lots of dish soap and let it soak in that for a few hours. Then I would rinse it out again, and let it dry before putting it on. I would also go to Autozone or something like that and buy a new gasket set for it.

That's exactly what I would do and maybe even soak it in a bucket with brake cleaner also. Either way works

I would use Simple Green, one of the citrus based cleaning products or maybe Gunk (brand) engine cleaner for cleaning. Cheap and no fumes, toxicity issues. Remove the rubber gaskets, give it a good coating inside and out and let it sit a few minutes. Use your pressure washer on a lower pressure setting and rinse thoroughly.
Repeat as needed.

Do you know how many miles were on the intake? Just because it got oil on the gaskets wouldn't be a reason to replace them. I would just wash the gaskets in dish soap and warm water and see how they look.

Aren't the gaskets, red, rubber type? Kind of indented/pushed into the bottom grooves?

We're talking about the little rubber ones around the runners, right? (/noob\)
They look fine, I'll remove them wash them up and put them back in, the motor only had 6000 miles on it. I'm more concerned about the foam bits on the very bottom of it where it sits on the valley cover.. any info on those?

Since you're working with an intake that came off of a blown motor, you've got a really good possibility that there are lots of metal particals that got suck up into the intake manifold. I, like you, purchased a used Z06 intake that came off of a blown engine........it dropped a valve(s) during high speed track run. The intake had loads of pieces of piston, and valve chunks. I cleaned that puppy with brake cleaner, high pressure washer, warm soap & water, and high pressure air hose, several times before I got all the crap out of it......
Highly recommend that you error on the side of overdoing the cleaning, as you really don't want you engine to ingest the metal particals that may be lurking inside that intake.
This is not the time to skimp on gaskets. You can get the 8 intake gaskets for about $65 bucks. If you use the old ones and they leak you will kick yourself for skimping.

I'll take a good close look at them then, before deciding they're okay to reinstall. Thanks for all the tips, I'll be spending a lot of time cleaning this one out I can see.. no metal bits, but plenty of oil everywhere.
