Default Electric cutout activation switch????

Hey guys I just picked up these connecting pipes with cutouts.

You can see there are what I believe to be +/- connections for each cutout.

My question is can I rig a basic toggle switch to the + side with a constant ground to activate the cutouts OR is there something special about the hardware needed to activate these cutouts?

Also does anyone know what kind of cutouts these are? Thanks

Cajun

It looks like a DMH Low Profile cutout.

If they have just two wires then they are reversing polarity. Positive to one wire and negative to the other will open the cutout. Switching the positive and negative wires will close the cutout.

A simple toggle switch will not work.

I have cut outs on my F350 with a 460c.i. I have QTP ones, I think those are DHM's as someone else stated. The switch I have, which would probally be the same as the one you need is a spring loaded switch. Push it down to open, it returns to a neutral center position from an internal spring. Push it up to close, it returns to the same neutral center position from the internal spring. I have to hold it up or down until i hear it open or close. I'm sure there's a name for this kind of switch, but I don't know what it's called. I actually wired mine with two switches. I didn't want the cut out switch to be "hot" all the time. I have a switch that powers the cut off switch.

Those are definitely DHM low profile cutouts. They use a small round button type toggle swith. Contact Dave at DMH. He's a great guy and should be able to help you out.
