Parked the car w/ e-brake on, went in for coffee, came back out, started backing up and heard a "scraping noise" from right rear.
Pulled forward, still could hear it, but with a different pitch.
Backed up again and drove it a few feet, all the time scraping metallic noise. Stopped, worked the ebrake handle up and down a few times, noise GONE???
Something loose or broken in e-brake assembly?
Hope you didn't wear it out and the shoe is dragging on the drum. Have you looked at the rotor inside and outside surfaces for the regular pads being worn?

at work right now, so cannot check properly, but last time checked about a month ago pleanty of pads, dont think they are they issue since working the ebrake handle seems to make the noise change or dissappear.
