My 01 Coupe service engine light came on a couple weeks ago. My on board diagnostics is telling me I have a bad air pump. I have access to a good used pump, so I am going to try it. In the meantime can I remove this pump and still drive the car a bit? Any hoses to cap off?
Ya plug up the hose going to the flange on the header/manifold. I used to a bolt that fit the inside of the hose and hose clamp.
I did that for the time being until I remove the pump, hoses, and flanges from my headers
tuned the car so the pump doesn't come on below 280 degrees coolant temp, if you don't have tuner, disconnect power to the pump and deal w/ the SES light
Sure would love an answer to this today while the car is on jack stands.
Can I drive a short while with the air pump removed??????
If you don't have a replacement, I don't see the purpose in removing it? It's still going to throw a code, so why not leave it in place, until you can swap it out?
