I had the same issue (or a something that sounds similar) with my 01 coupe. When I turned the key the seat started moving to its memory position, all the guages came on. When I went to start, I got nothing except a readout on the DIC that said "Charging System.. something" I didn't have time to read it all. I turned off the key, turned it back on and it started.
I came on here and got advice about cleaning the key pellet. I think rubbing alcohol was the advised product to clean it with. I did that, and haven't had the problem since.
I was also advised that, if that didn't do the trick to take a q-tip and dip it in alcohol and clean the ignition. I didn't have to go that far.
Is the security light flashing? If so, then clean the pellet or hope the ignition switch contacts for the pellet are still good. You say just one click...starter solenoid click? Put a voltmeter across the battery and see if you have 12.5 minimum with everything turned off. Check the battery connections and starter connection for cleanliness and tightness. Remember the starter connection is hot to the battery.

And check the voltage across the battery while someone else tries to start the car.
Some people have reported finding burnt contacts at the starter as well.
