I'm about to reinstall my water pump. Is there any trick to getting the gaskets in place and lined up? I realize I don't need sealer with the new style gaskets, but I don't see how I would get the driver's side gasket in there without some kind of sealer to hold it on.
I have done this a few times and its a pain. Last time I tied the gasket to the pump with thread and then put in the bolts loose and cut the thread. Next time I have made some threaded dowels by cutting the heads off of four bolts. Then I can install two dowels on each side , slip on the gasket then the pump and remove each dowel one at a time and replace with bolts. This helps with the awkwardness of holding that heavy pump from the side while you fiddle with the bolts.

Those are really good ideas. I was able to get it back on by hanging the gaskets off of 2 loose bolts per side. I then carefully lowered the pump into the engine bay, pressed the pump into place and partially threaded 1 of the passenger side bolts (to locate the pump while I worked on the other side). I then went to the drivers side and threaded both bolts. The rest of the bolts went in easy after that. I think I got lucky with my approach. Thanks for the tips!
