Default Differential Fluid

Have a question about differential fluid. I've seen some discussion on here about which to use, and it seems a lot of people like the Royal Purple. So I picked some up tonight, but haven't put it in yet.

My question is, do you still need to add a limited slip additive with it? It says on the bottle that it is mixed with a limited slip additive, and wasn't sure whether to add more or not. Thanks

I just changed mine using the Redline fluid that has the additive already in it. I did not add any additional, and it's running great. Put in the RP straight out of the bottle. You can always add the extra additive later if it chatters.

If you got the Royal Purple Max Gear,,you are good to go it has it in there already. It's been a while , but I think it says so on the bottle.I've had mine in there for about 4,000 mi and three trips to the strip and just came back from an 1,100 mi trip and smooth and quiet as new!!

I agree...I've had RedLine in my '01 for many years. Works good!

Be careful, however. RedLine makes TWO diff oils. One is for limited slip units, the other is for open diffs. Make sure you get the right one.

I changed last weekend RP max gear 75W90 No additional additive needed. Drove may be 100 miles sofar with no problem. But if i were u i would go Redline NS with GM additive. I dont see any problem with RP but it looked thin and purplish color.

It may look funny ,,but IT SURE WORKS GOOD!! I've put 4000 miles PLUS 13 dyno pulls 3 test and tune nights(16 passes) and 2 trips (one was 1,100 miles with mountains. The rest was daily driving of city/suburban type driving. Thousands of racers wouldn't use it if it didn't work! R.P. has earned their rep!!
