It sounds to me like one of the sensors used by the Active Handling system is getting flakey.
Have you checked to see if any DTC are set ???
If, for example, as you brake the Steering Wheel Position Sensor (SWPS) erroneously tells the car that you turned the steering wheel (even though you didn't) the AH will try to turn the car in the direction the SWPS says you turned the wheel.
The other sensors used by the AH system are a yaw sensor, a lateral accelerometer, and the wheel speed sensors.
You can most likely eliminate the whell speed sensors as they are also used by the ABS and Traction Control systems .... so if those sensors were failing all 3 systems would have problems.
Again, check the DTC and let's see if the EBCM has spotted a problem yet ..... then we'll go from there.

Definitely a good idea to check for codes.

This is great advice. My car is doing the same thing. The codes I am getting are C1287 and C1288. In my case it is the SWPS causing it. ABS and AH apply the brakes at different rates. When ABS applies the brakes it will feel like the brake pedal is being pumped. When AH is applied the pedal will feel like it attached to a vibrator. AH applies the brakes at twice the frequency that ABS does.
