The tubbing job (2" per) is app. 70% complete. Ready for final glassing of the speaker mounts and final sanding of the tubbs. Inner fender liners were a breeze, just waiting on the 2nd set (due Wed) to complete. Overall not that difficult of a job, just time consuming. 345x18"s fill the wheel well, not a lot of room remaining.
Have taken quite a few pic's, will post with narrative upon completion of job.
Thanks to Nasty C5, Vetterdster and Magic C5 for the help. :smash:
Later... :seeya

I can see why you need so much rubber with those afterburners. :D
This is a very interesting project. I can't wait to hear your full report. Always wanted to see how this was done on a coupe. I guess the targa top storage in the back is a goner?
Please post details and lots of pics when you're done.
Patches,
At this time the top floor mounts are not available. I'll devise a "clean" :yesnod: method for anchoring the top once I finish the
major work. I have a couple of unique ideas in mind for this problem.
Wait till everyone sees the photos of the inside  JT made it look factory. I knew he would do a great job, but I am amazed how awesome it came out :yesnod:

Can't wait to see the finished product. Got to tell you guys, JT did a very meticulious job and if my car was ever to be tubbed, I would want JT's supervision.
Congrats, JT for a great job.
Thanks for the kudo's Nasty and C5 MAGIC.
Well, all of the tough stuff is done. The glassing, sanding (whew!!!)and painting complete, also installed a few pc of dynamat.
Just need to finish trimming the carpet and install the speaker covers. Curious to see how far out from the original position they will
sit. Don't expect to much grief in getting these to fit.
Hopefully my other set of inner fender liners will arrive tomorrow. This will provide the extra coverage missing from the modified original set.
I'll take a breather and then work on putting together the "how to tubb a coupe" process. More to follow.
Really great work. Nice going. Super pics too. Once you've had it on the road for a bit I'd be interested in hearing your impressions on traction and whether or not there are any negatives such as increased tire/road noise. Thanks.
JT,
It looks great......what rims are you running on that thing? They look different than I have seen?! By the way, you might want to consider re-sizing your sig pic to be a little smaller. I am on a T1 connection and it STILL took a while to download! You are killing the dialup guys big time!
John, yep the pic's are a little large, will reduce with new postings. It's the resin fumes  . The rims are FIKSE FM5's, 3 pc, full polish, 18"x11.5" rear and 18x10" fronts. Love em.
01C5, No negatives with this setup. No difference in tire noise vs my old
tires, 295 Pilot Sports, definetely more traction, wet or dry. The ride is
a little softer vs the 295's.
JPAS, The exhaust is by Supertrapp, 5" diameter with billet cone caps. Very
deep sound with zero resonance. And they are tunable.
Still have to complete the inner fender liner mods. Received a set today but
one is for a Z06, Opp's! I have the original liners installed but need another set
to finish the fitting.
More to follow.
Thanks guys!
01C5,
Before you spring for the LPE tubb's give Nate at Xtreme a call, he installed the LPE kit in his coupe. I don't know who spent more time and effort with the install/mod's but I understand the LPE kit is quite intense (and expensive).
Guess it depends on how much money you want to spend and how talented
you are with bodywork.
I'll finish up this weekend and post pic's of the carpet and inner fender liners.
JT
Will definitely talk to Nate. LPE gets around $1300 for the coupe version of their tub kit. This includes new mounts for the roof. They also recommend shortening the travel on your shocks. No idea what that's about. The reason I was considering the kit was to make it easier. Sounds like that may not be the case. Thanks much for the heads up!
