Any one run an 1/8th mile track? I tried Houston Motorsports last Friday night which is near my house. I have an 04 which is bone stock with the exception of a Black Wing. I ran an 8.77, but my reaction time (.770) was terrible since it was the first time I've taken the car down a straight track. My next runs I got the reaction time down to an acceptable level, but still was running in the high 8's. I will have to start considering some performance options for my baby. Perhaps I'll start out with some longtubes and a shot of nitrous to keep the cost down.
I won on every race (mostly 5.0 mustangs), but was owned pretty badly by a Chevy extended cab with slicks that really wanted to race me for obvious reasons. I don't know what he had in there, but he ran around a 7 or below. I was carrying a passenger on that run, and an extra 225 lbs in the car did not help, but I know he would have still had me.
It was a lot of fun, though the finish came up pretty quick compared to the 1/4 I used to run back in the day.
Reaction time is only time it takes for you to trip the lights and start the timer. It affects your ability to win a race but not your timeslip. If you and that truck ran identical times but his reaction time was .1 better than yours, he would have beaten you by a car length or so. You need to leave earlier. Leave on as the second to last yellow light comes on and if you redlight, leave when it goes out. Do you have an auto? Are you power braking at the tree and loading up your converter so you get a good launch and 60ft? Standard transmission, find Ranger's posts, read and learn.

The RT can certainly be a factor in determining the winner or loser of a race. However, it has "no" affect on the ET the car will run!!
I have not run at that track yet, but have been meaning to go check it out. I have run several times at Houston Raceway in Baytown, which is a 1/4 mile track. Definitely a lot closer to home than Baytown!
