My 4L60E in my 2000 C5 needs a rebuild.I have found a couple of 4L60Es that are rebuilt but came out of a truck and a Camaro. Are the parts interchangeable so that I could just have everything switched over to my case?Any special years/vehicles that will not work?
Thanks,
Your vette has a 4L65E. It has a stronger planetary gear (5 points) and extra clutches in the 3-4 shift compared to a 4L60E.
Unless you know something about the OP's car that the rest of us don't .... he has a 4L60-E (RPO M30) ... the 4L65-E was only factory installed for the 2005 C6 Corvette. Starting with the 2006 the automatic became the 6L80-E (paddle shift 6 speed - RPO MYC).
As far as using parts from a truck/Camaro 4L60 ... hard to say ... the truck version may have (if it was a 4 wheel drive) a different output shaft, for example. Many of the internal parts are the same .... but the external parts are often different. One thing for sure .... 1997 is kind of a cut-off .... the 4L60 was "upgraded" for most vehicles that year .... so if you are looking at an older tranny than that, you should probably skip it.
