i am lookn in to gettin a new top end and wondering what the best heads, cams, intake manifold and maf are...i was lookn at the ls3 heads not sure about cams but lsx or ls6 intake mani and 90mm maf...is there anything better out there?? i live in ca soo i wanna be close to passin smog...but its theres a no on smog then mind as well do it big right? thanks again

LS3 heads are likely too big for an LS1, and they are not compatible with the LS6 intake.
AFR heads carry a 50 state CARB # so that would be OK in CA. If you want the appearance of stock, then modified GM castings would be harder to detect on a visual inspection. To visually remain compliant, those appear to be your two options. As far as the cam is concerned, I have read and spoke with guys from CA and 224 on a 114 is about the limit and still pass smog in CA.
