Need a little help here. Driving at night, the dash lights will dim by themselves. Touch the dim switch or wiggle it and all is well. Had it replaced on sat at the Chevy dealer. The dash lights did the same thing that night. They also replaced the battery because when putting up the windows and the window would hit its stop, the headlights would dim, like as in real dim.
Any replies here would be most helpful.
Happy New Year
Roger
Yea! I loved to know as well. Although my dash lights are working properly, the LED on the Dual Zone AC/Heat which shows inside/outside temp and what
vents your're running is way dim than say the radio or the dash.
In fact during the day I can't see what it says at all. I thought the dash, radio and AC/Heat lights are all controlled be the same switch and/or fuse.
Sounds like a battery or alternator problem; many have posted similar experiences. Have them check the charging circuit and be sure you really did get a new battery......
I had the same problem recently. The dealer tried to replace the battery. I told them that I already did that. So they gave me a new alternator. It took a little bit of a fight but they got it done.
I have a new battery and alterntor and the head lights still dim.
I recall some postings on this topic before and the bottom line
is WIMPY or undersized wiring! Some of the wires are just too
small for the load.
To see the problem watch your head lights on low beam at night
when you push the up window control (while the window is up
against the stop). You can also see the lights dim when you hit
the brake lights.
Just learn to live with it like the useless cup holder and enjoy the
other aspects of the car.
Thank you all for posting a reply.
Purerock105...You have a problem the dealer should fix
carpe dm...I watched him unwrap the new battery. That night I tried running the windows up as before and the headlights only dimmed a smidgen
robiferretti...see above^
nitrosuzie...Did it fix the problem completely?????
Dick Kriss...They never dim when I hit the brakes. Pushing the up button on the window(s) now after a new battery, the dimming is a whole lot less. Stupid dash lights keep going out.
I know I will be chastized for this but: my 2000 FRC headlights and dash lights never, and I mean never ever did this at all. Perhaps I'm just being to ****. :D  :D

I had this also. It is not as bad since replacing the battery with the Optima yellow top. I figured yellow top because of the deep cycle feature would help with the electrical load issue that caused the lights to dim.
Hi all,
I have noticed this, also. My lights dim upon rolling up the windows and also when I hear the fuelpump "whine". I assume it's just the load being pulled from the battery at the time. Just another wonderful little design flaw to **** me off(like the frigin' mirrors. Oh don't get me started on the Damn mirrors!!)
