Default Column lock service problem

im new to corvettes and not that great with cars to begin with the steering column lock thing is really confusing me. I bought my 01 c5 with 65k now has 75k and i had the 10 second message pop up one followed the intructions and then the car worked fine but then had it again about a week later i once again followed but when it came on it said service column lock etc... problem is my wheel isnt locked up and it never locks not even with the key off what does that mean for my car? does that mean it had the recall done already or is something failing any help would be great thanks

Yes, the recall has been done.

Order a Column Lock Bypass (CLB) from these guys ....

http://www.corvettesofhouston.com/index.php?cPath=29_42

Install it (or have someone install it) ASAP.

Once you start seeing SERVICE COLUMN LOCK messages you are on your way to being stranded if you don't have a CLB.

Get it, do it, or don't come back here crying and asking how to fix a stranded car.

I agree with everybody else, get the bypass. I just put a new one on because mine went bad. Mine still ran and drove just fine since I have the fuel cut tuned out but I got tired of the column lock message popping up. If possible I would get the cut off tuned out also. I was lucky I had my laptop with me when my bypass went bad because I was 70 miles from home.
