I don't think this is tied into the memory feature, but my 04 now shows the odometer in the DIC when I start up the car. Regardless of whether I unlock the car with the fob, or use the memory button, or just enter the car already unlocked. Also the HUD shows the oil pressure, rather than the fuel gauge as it used to. I think this started when I pulled the battery to do a headlight gear replacement.
I have tried the correct procedure for setting the memory on these items (if they are included in the memory settings) to no avail.
Anyone know how to get correct this? It's kind of a pain to have to change the DIC and HUD every time I start the car.
Quite a few people have had this problem and it always seems to be related to the battery. It seems that the voltage drops below some threshold during cranking and that resets these items. I had the problem for several months with no other symptoms. The problem was completely cured when I replaced the battery.
Similar problem. The positive terminal of the 7 year old battery was almost broken off and the acid leaked out. Cleaned up the mess and replaced the battery and all was well. The car always started properly and the theory that the voltage got too low during starting makes sense.
BATTERY! AllVette, Very good info! 9 VDC is the low voltage cutoff for most modules. Once the IPC cuts off due to low voltage, it resets to the factory presets.
If I turn my ignition on while the door is open, it will reset my DIC to the odometer and clear my trip and avg economy....I have already replaced my battery, cleaned and soldered all splice packs, and checked all grounds. I chalk it up to good old GM electrical engineering. Good thing their mechanical dept knows what the heck they're doing! 134k and still going strong!
