Don´t forget........it will never end.

So why heads/cam?
I wll tell you:

Get a heads/cam and if you want more ....buy a stroker.
If you would buy a stroker instead head/cam.......then what when you get bored with that power........need SC or turbo then.........and so on.

Heads/cam is fun if you don´t wanna go too deep into the engine.
Now 400rwhp is fun and it´s not that much $.

Keith....another good, solid take on the subject :)

Joey99.....there aren't many cars in town you couldn't beat, I'd be lucky to match that beast of yours

Mean Green, How much money did you get for the wrecked pick-up? :yesnod:
$4600....:(, gotta use some of that to tune up the wife's hand-me-down, then I can go go semi-wild :D

looks like a major part of the cost of a h/c package is going to be the labor.....I was hoping to get into a package for around 2k or so...then see what the install will cost :)

Why do heads/cam....I'm not going to be a racer and I won't be able to run at the track....convince me :D
You don't want your RC Car to be faster than the Vette :D
Raced ZX1100's RC Car and it took me off the line

Mean Green, I am on the edge now with my mods going 12.35 best, H/C will take me into 11's and rollbar territory. I have nothing against roll bars, I'd love to have one but it makes my H/C package $2K more than anybody else's cause I am a bracket racer and my 173 passes last year proves it. Here is why I would do or not do H/C

Do not do becasue
1. Will cost me $2k more as I have to include a rollbar
2. Lot of money and my kid's will be ready for college soon
3. It won't stop at H/C, will want to do bottom end then

Do because
1. It is cool to run 11's
2. The faster the car, the more likely you will face a slower opponent in a bracket race which gives a slight advantage as if both cars redlight, the first to redlight loses and the second (faster car) wins.
3. It puts your name closer to the top of any perfromance registry related site
4. You don't want to be the slowest Vette at the track

For me, no H/C....................................... ................................this year;)

As for the post about 13's, do the tracks near Orlando enforce the rollbar rule? I finally want to make it to the track and suspect I'll break into the 12's (or the 11's :):):))

Tom
Technically you need a roll bar for a vert in the 13's. None of the tracks around here have enforced it for the events that I attend, Texas Musclecar Club Challenge and Xtreme Corvette Club of Texas Challenges. I just think that getting faster than 13.0 is pushing it and I don't care to take that chance. You gotta have a helmet though. Nobody slacks up on that! :smash:

Mean Green:

Why do heads/cam? Because you live once and life is short and if you are like me and I would guess a majority of the folks on this site, your awesome new found natuarlly aspirated power (which is there 100% of the time unlike N20) which can dust stock vipers and turbo porsches, will be a natural high for you and will give you extreme enjoyment, fun, satisfaction and pleasure.

Your car will be a completely new beast with heads, cam, Long tubes, Ls6 intake and while you are in there do underdrive pulleys also, and PCM programming is a must. THen I can can guarantee you that if you LOVE driving one of the baddest **** C5s in your town be it on the streets, highway, drags, to car shows, auto cross or on vacation, you will have a smile on your face :D and will be in heaven everytime your in that machine. Also, there is probably a dragstrip within strikin distance of your home which is not governed by NHRA rules where rollbar rules won't be enforced. In Chicagoland, I drive my C5 over 1.5 hours to a professional dragstrip which is not NHRA approved and I'm in the 11s with a Vert and they haven't said sheet to me about any damn rollbar. So are you convinced yet? If not,, I can go on and on as I get paid for talking & persuading people. LOL-Damn Lawyers

SO GO FOR IT DUDE :smash:

Nitrovette :smash:
P.s-Go to the top notch tuner in your area as you don't want just any :bs mechanic working on your pride and joy and you will be :D.
