Steering Wheel Rattle

I have what I would describe as a steering wheel rattle. It seems to be coming from slop in the adjustable steering wheel height mechanism. When the car goes over any rough road or bumps the steering wheel moves quite a bit up and down and makes a clunk, clunk noise. If I put weight on the wheel then the noise stops. It there any way to lessen the slop or repair this problem. Is there any kind of adjustment? Thanks for the help.

You need to remove the knee bolsters and inspect the aluminum bracket that supports the steering column. The bracket has to be securely mounted to the car, and the column has to be securely mounted to the bracket.
