Re: Best computer chip/reprogrammer on the market? (Corellian Corvette)
I know it's not cool to be satisfied with the Power Programmer, but I am.
I like being able to tweak shift points, firmness, fans, etc. I didn't see an improvement in actual power (as exhibited by the 1/4 mile times) until I started using killer racing unleaded from Mobil. What a difference! I won't get rid of the PP until I sell the car. :chevy

I am trying to decide on a chip. If Ed Wright is so good, and has such fast turnaround, why are so many going through the aggravation of long waits for a Powerloader??
Re: Best computer chip/reprogrammer on the market? (Corellian Corvette)
Can anyone confirm that I can diable cags and set fan speeds with the powerloader?
The Powerloader does disable CAGS. I took my CAGS eliminator plug off and gave it to someone else after installing Powerloader.
Fan Temps are set by Steve Cole to come on at 190 I believe in the standard PL. If you want a different temp, you'd have to request that from Steve Cole when you order. You can't change anything yourself on the PL program (fan temps, rev limiter, etc). You have to send it back for any changes.
The PL does increase low rpm torque for the M6. I noticed a difference in my '99. May not be that big a difference on '01-'02 M6s because GM gave them more torque to begin with.

Probably because PCM programming thru a programmer like Ed Wright is not really necessary until you start getting some major mods such as heads, cam, headers, etc. The powerloader seems to be better suited for those guys who have more of the basic mods such as exhaust, intake, etc. and that seems to be what the majority of the C5ers on this forum are set up with. If I were you I would go with Ed Wright primarily b/c of the slow turnaround with the Powerloader and I believe you will get better rwhp gains with Ed Wright and the price is comparble as Ed Wright programming is around $500.00 plus shipping. Hell lets face it, within one week of pulling your PCM and sending to Ed you will be back on the road with a big :D on your face. Ed has been a master tuner of race cars, etc for many years has an awesome reputation and cutsomer service is incredible. This is just my honest opinion and I have no personal affilitation with Ed but am just a satisfied customer. Why don't you email him or call and see what you think for yourself. :D
