I'm removing my M12 for rebuild.
I left the tube in place and just pulling the trans. I'm at the point to where I just need to slide the tranny off the shaft. but looking between the tranny and the tube. I see the input shaft and another for the shifter?
how does the shifter shaft connect? should I just be able to slide it out?
I getting a little snag somewhere and I saw the shaft. Just want to make sure before I break something
thanx
You can disconnect the shift-actuator rod from the shifter-receiver (look down into the hole in the tunnel where you removed the shifter), then carefully guide the actuator and the transmission rearward.
ahh, I didn't remove the shifter. i'm doing this on jackstands. so I figured it also connected at the rear.
from what you said. sounds like i'll be sliding the rod from the trans to where it connects to the shifter? is this rod solid, because like 5ft long i'm assuming or wont have the clearance for that.
I found this pin at the transmission end of the rod. if removed. will it then disconnect?
That is probably what Mggn was referring to. Would it be able to get to if the trans was back in original location and looking down through the hole where your shifter is located? How come you did'nt take your shifter off, or did you? Sorry I'm of no help, just trying to get educated w/ these C/5's. Good luck.

It will come out no problem if you just go under the console and remove the bolt holding the shift rod onto the shifter assembly. I did it last winter.
I never tried removing or installing that pin but removing it at the shifter sure seemed like it would be easier and in reality worked with no problems.
I just removed the shifter and that torx bolt that connects it to the rod to shifter assembly. it makes sense in my head now. off to the garage. thanx folks
