I purchased an 02 Z this last Thursday. I noticed Saturday, in my parking garage a slight creeking noise when I put the car in 1st or reverse and give the car and kind of gas. If I ease out of the gears, it doesnt make the noise. Does anyone know what this may be?
The car has 27K. I only hear it when the car first starts moving either foward or backward. The noise is not there while braking. If I ease out of gear, there is no noise. It almost sounds like the shocks/struts but I want to be sure.
Clicking means its probably an easy fix. Go buy yourself a 33mm wheel nut socket and some grease. Remove each rear wheel, remove the large wheel nut. You find that the half-shafts will slide in and out about an inch. Grease the splines on the shaft without over-doing it. Put it back together then do the other wheel. I don't know the torque value at this second so someone please correct me...think its 120ft lbs but truly don't remember.

I would guess bushings on the sway bars. Common issue

If you are going over bumps and the weather starts turning cold, hearing a crunching type sound or whatever it can be called, yes...the sway bar bushings. They seem to last about 2 years or so or they only lasted that long for me.
The clicking type sounds when first moving the car in first or reverse, is the splines on the half-shafts needing lubrication.
