I'm on my way to Louisiana to see my father thats in the hospital everything is going smooth then all of a sudden the car started driving like crap, almost feels like a couple of bad ignition coils, I was able to get it to a garage that can do light maintenance, had them run a diagnostic. I was not getting any readings from both my o2 sensors and i got a code for my Mass Air. I cleaned off my Mass Air and had new o2 sensor's installed and it didn't kick any codes but it still run like crap, I'm lost onto what else to check. I'm $300 into repairs and still not fixed. Anyone got any ideas into what i should check next.
Did you get a bad tank of gas? Change the feul filter and run techtron thru it. Or just top off the tank with good gas and dump a bottle of dry gas in there Best of Luck
Thanks aleadfoot, I'll try your way to see what happens. I did top off my gas prior to all this happening. With all the rain i thought I got a short somewhere.
I just had a friend come see me in his Viper. It would barely run and his 02's were throwing codes and I was stumped because they were new and the wiring was intact. I checked fuel pressure and it was only 20psi. Pulled the custom pump out of the tank and found a line popped off. He had just gotten gas and assumed it was bad gas. Don't let the codes sell you on the problem. Check the basics. Plugs, wires, fuel pressure. Check the harness in the back of the engine and make sure it's not being chaffed by the metal bracket. Just start the car and move the harness and see if it clears up. Cats could be clogged too. That caused me nightmares in the past. Made everything go nuts!
There are TWO things that can cause this type of issue:
First:
Chech to see if the BCM is wet or damp. It doesnt take very much moisture to cause it to have a hemerage. If you feel the carpet and underlayment behind the BCM in the passengers foot well and it is wet or even damp, let me know and I will tell you how to recover ....
Second:
The left and right door wiring harnesses (located inside the rubber accordion tube between the door and door frame) can ground out and cause problems like this. For now,,,, shake the heck out of it and see of you can change the symptoms. If it does, let me know and we can make strides to fix the issue.
Check those things and let me know if they resolve the issue.

I checked the BCM and it was dry and I shook the wire bundles between the doors and nothing happened. playing around with the throttle and it stumbles up the RPM, it did kick a MAP sensor code (P0108) I'm going to replace that to see if it makes a difference
The codes tell you that a measurement is out of tolerance at a certain point in the system. They do not tell you a certain item is bad. Replacing the MAP may or may not solve the problem. There are 4 potential failure mechanisms in this area. The vacuum source for the MAP, electrical issues with voltage, ground and wiring, the MAP or the PCM. If something else is causing the MAP to have an incorrect reading then you are just throwing money away. The diagnostic procedure has plenty of steps checking the MAP vacuum source, voltage, ground, wiring and connections to the MAP before recommending replacement of the MAP or the PCM.

When they ran the diagnostic the MAP was only reading 3 volts, I think it's suppose to read 5. My #1 injector is not working either I pulled the spark plug and it still looked new, I didn't smell any gas on it I swapped coils to make sure that and the wires were good and changed the spark plug also, damn thing shocked the hell out of me so I know the coil works.

In an ironic twist of fate, my '99 just picked up this exact problem over the past couple days. I was able to wiggle the driver's door wiring harness and temporarily get it back on. Notice I am also in Alabama. Coincidence? I think not.
Bill - Let's hear your ideas to fix the door wiring short. Thanks for the help.
Clyde
Edit - 20 minutes later, my wiring short is fixed. I found this post by Bill Curlee to tape up a bare wire in the door harness. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...1606865&page=3
Looks like the CF (and Bill) have helped me yet again... Bill, I hope to thank you in person one day, but for now, please accept a virtual toast

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
