Default Dusty Engine Bay

Does anyone know why the hell I am getting so much dust under the hood? I like it clean, and it seems like every two weeks I am cleaning a lot of dust off the engine. Could it be the hood liner? Tried the high performance hood seal and all that did was give me 480 at the wheels ( started at 479 ) but still dusty.

Anybody familiar??

Did you remove the fog light surrounds for more air flow to the filter? If so that will let in alot of dust as well. Do you drive your car daily? Do you live in a dusty area? Do you use a plastic protectant that attracts dust?

Same problem for me, and I live near water which translates to sand...ugh. I have my radiator shroud cut for my intake so I assume thats where most of mine comes in, but it seems like its gotten progressively worse over the years.

I have seen this happen when the fan temps are set too low and they run a lot of the time.

Surrounds are still on.

Recently driving almost daily because of the weather, but even when it's just out on nice weekends I still get the dust.

No protectant.

It's driving me crazy. I have SC it the car and ECS uses a modified lower radiator support, but I just can't figure out why so much fine dust.

Aggrivating, but at least I know I'm not alone.

Sorry man. There is not much you can do.
I have a Callaway honker intake and it was explained to me this way. There is a high pressure “pocket between the engine compartment and radiator and that causes dust, hay and even small rocks to get sucked up into the radiator area. Most fall back to the ground but some of it gets distributed all over the engine bay and makes a mess. I don’t think there is anything you can do. I have found Pringles bags, plastic shopping bags and a ton of other road debris in mine.
With my C% I keep a close eye on the radiator and filters to be sure they are not getting plugged with fine stuff and watch those damn plastic bags they fly down the road.

Did you happen to do the front license plate screen mod? I seemed to get a ton more dust in the engine bay since doing it on mine.

I was afraid of this answer. It sucks. My son stopped me the other day when I was backing out to pull a plastic bag out of the vacuum area. Thanks for the response.

Didn't do this mod, I actually have a plate up there. The local law enforement officials have enough to pull me over for. Lol, they are kind of strict in NJ.

Thanks for the thought.
