Default Mti stage 2e ls1 heads

I am looking into doing a bigger cam. Did these heads come with the 921 springs or 918 dual springs? i have maybe 6k miles on the current ones and am going from a MTI Stealth II cam to LG g5x2 and was wondering if i really need to change the springs. I cant get a hold of MTI anymore to ask them . I know they came with dual springs. Thanks.

918s are single springs.

Mine came with comp 921's (dual springs) for my application.
You may have issues trying to install 918's, or any other single spring, on heads where the seats were cut for dual springs.

The 921's or other similar dual springs will work with a G5X2 cam.

These were pretty decent LS1 heads that flow approx. 305cfm at .600 lift with reasonable velocity at most lift's.

Default I have those heads

I put 30,000 spirited miles on mine then a roller rocker came apart. I changed the springs only because I had it apart. They were double springs and looked great. The machine shop said I didn't need to change them.

Hearing that makes me feel good. I know these are a good set of heads. What cam do you have?

Default Cam

I believe the same one you are going with. Since MTI (Houston) went out of the business of modding Vettes it is hard to get the info anymore.

I actually pm'ed Dave from MTI, he said he would def. recomend me to chage my springs if i am going with that cam. He said the springs i have right now are the 918's . Now what baffels me is that the 918's are single coil springs, and i thought the MTI LS1 2E heads came with dual springs. Very confusing. Anyone care to chime in ?

Uhm, who recommends that?

LG recommends 921s for their G5X2 cam.

As posted above, MTI doesn't recommend 918s for use with LG's cam either.

I'd suggest the gold or extreme PRC/Patriot duals...a lot cheaper than 921s, have proven just as reliable.

The shop that is doing the cam swap wants to put in the crane dual springs. What do you guys think of those?

I was referring to the post above my previous one as to why his mti heads came w/ 918 springs...they are recommended for the mti stealth cam which was ground by comp
