Folks, you are the best, answered all my questions so far, thanks. Blower on '98 coupe, doesn't come on at times, then it's on high and won't diminish but the button and digital readout on the auto climate control shows it working. I can keep pushing the buttons for higher fan speed and lower speed and it'l start working. Bumps in the road doesn't matter, doesn't turn it off or on, all fuses meter good. I pulled the unit out and verified the connector on the rear of the unit was plugged in correctly. Did a search and got a whole bunch of threads about just about everything else but this problem. I read about a relay on some, maybe a motor problem on others, does anybody have a method to see what's wrong with mine ? I don't think it's the head unit, cause the digital readout seems to be working well. All thanks for any help.
...Oh, and where is the blower and how do you get to it, and how do you clean it out and check the connections there ? Also, where is the blower relay and how on that also ????
Hi,I have a 2001 vette.Blower stopped working at all times.I have the dual climate auto control option..There are three conponents the HVAC (which is the button control on dash)a blower motor control module and the blower motor. My problem was the control module. The blower motor and module are both under the dash, forward of the glove conpartment. You must pull down the thin panel below the glove compt. It's held up with two push-in type plastic fasteners. You must remove the glove comptment door too.The motor has three 7/32" bolts and is easy to remove.First remove the connector as there is always power to the motor and will run if it touches ground. There it also a small rubber hose to pop off the side of the motor. The control module is to the inside and behind the motor. It has four small bolts. Only two have to be removed and the other two(forward ones) only loosen as the mounting tabs are slotted.Check the motor by jumpering to 12volt battery as it only has two electrical connector tabs. This will show you if it's running okay.I ordered the control module from Thepartsladi on the internet "E" bay.Same GM part and cost $100.00.Hope this helps you. This job is not difficult to do.The hard part is seeing under the dash.USE MIRRORS!

My HVAC motor unit went bad. I knew because when i checked the whole unit by turning the fan you could feel the drag from the failed motor bearings. I got a new unit from gmpartshouse.com ask for Gene. I did not need to replace the relay. It was a good thing cause my part was pinned tightly to the firewall by a bundle of wires. I was lucky. Still have that relay part and hope i never need to replace. The motor and fan can become a mouse hotel during winter rest and all that junk that was a nest is bad for the motor and fan, you now have a problem when you turn on the hvac.
