Hood Hitting Something - Causing it to Crack

So, let's see.........
You're not the original owner...
The crack is directly above the coolant cap...
There is only a 1/4 inch of clearance with the cap fully seated....
So what happens when some knucklehead leaves the coolant cap loose, and lets the hood slam??
But you say.....wait.....just the hood hitting the loose coolant cap shouldn't crack it...
True....but when said knucklehead sees the passenger side of the hood unlatched, and gives her a nice push down.....

Definitely seems like a plausible scenario! The only catch being that I've had the car for about a month and it seems like I would have noticed the crack before now. Oh well, I'll just drive it and see what happens. Worse case I have to get the hood repainted - or perhaps upgrade to a new one?
