Someone is just telling me not to go to Nationals....
I let Dave drive the car this morning, he found it to be very weird as well so I got home and jacked up the rear end. Went about tightening things down. I found a connection unplugged on the passenger side, I cleaned it up and plugged it back in. Not sure which connector that is?
After that I tried tightening up things under the car, and ended up breaking one of the bolts on the rear diff mount where it goes to the subframe
In the photo above it was the bolt on the bottom left of that picture (picture not of my car).
So I am done, I'm taking it to a dealer in the morning and giving them my credit card. Hopefully they have it fixed by Wednesday and without maxing out my card
The local dealer says I need to replace all the control arms in the back of the car, so I am picking it up today and taking it to Superior Chevy thursday morning on my way to Topeka to have them replace the parts. Here's to hoping that solves the problem!
I had this same problem after one of my many driveline jobs. Was driving me nuts. Was driving along and heard a loud "Clank, ting ting ting" Pulled over to find one of my rear control arm bolts on the road. Either I forgot to tighten it or forgot the locktite on it and it backed out. Got it home and put bolt back in and car drove like new
I would imagine worn out bushings causing the same feeling. I cant see the control arms being bent though. That kind of cast aluminum would normally break rather than bend.
He runs it in the Super Stock class of SCCA Autocross.
Only OEM bushings allowed.
Correct, I also have autocrossed a LOT this year, I've travelled to a lot of national events. I just did some quick math and I believe I've had somewhere around 133 autocross runs this year myself (not included a T&T day at Topeka in August), with codrivers the car has seen almost another 200 runs.
That's a lot of runs!

Yeah, I have a bunch of runs on my OEM bushings too. One of the front ones is starting to deform and push out of the control arm. Since I made the switch to ASP, I'm going to install the Pfadt poly bushings this winter sometime before the first National Tour or S.E. Divisional event.
If you put an 18" tire on the front and a 17" tire on the rear (other side of the car has 17F 18R) the car goes to hell. Swap them and all is well again.
I can't believe I didn't see this, or the first dealer didn't see this. Talk about an expensive screwup.
I just had to chuckle at the resolution... and give this resolution a bump.
But I also wonder... I thought the overall OD of the tires front and rear was the same or close. Maybe it's enough that it was causing the AH to kick in when the narrow tire started to break loose?
