Fixin to start molding up my box... Im thinking about 2 10" and the amp mounted between...
The two 10s will be facing up and inward..
The box will start at the rear of the console and roll up over the hump and out around the seats (kinda like the water fall on a vert). I may even add the c5 logo the speakers will look extruded up on there angles and all the contours blended. It will stop just short of where my top slides in.
So what do u guys think.. U like this ideal or maybe mold across the very back and do 4 8"

sounds like a cool idea man...curious as to how come your not just going with a stealth box? This is what Iam doing this winter. Going with 1 12". But the guy creating me the box said that he has done 2 8's or 2 10's.
MOSTLY BECAUSE OF THE COST OF THE JL AUDIO STUFF I CAN MOLD IT IN THE WELLS BUT WHERE WOULD THE UNIQUENESS BE (I THINK THATS A WORD BEEN UP FOR LIKE 23 HOURS RIGHT NOW).. I CAN MOLD IT IN FRONT OF THE LID AND NOT WORRY ABOUT IT RATTLEING THE **** OUT OF MY LID. PLUS I CAN POP A MOLD OFF THE FIRST ONE AND IF ANY1 WANTS THE ABILLITY TO HAVE 2 10" AND CUSTOM PAINTED IN LOOK. I CAN MAKE ANOTHER PRETTY QUICK. HELL I MAY DO BOTH AND MAKE MOLDS JUST INCASE
Well thats why they would be pointed toward the rear of the car so that the sound comes from the rear of the car much like if they were in the very back..
I have the flush mount box from subthump.com with a single Series R Alpine 12 and a 600 watt Alpine mono amp going to it. I can't believe the sound from one 12 and the hatch doesn't rattle at all. That being said, I would love to see how this turns out. Granted, I have an FRC, so nothing fits back there, but if you have the ability, build it! What's the worst case scenario, you have a box you can't use? Go for it.

Frequencies emitted from subwoofers are omnidirectional, which means you don't have to point them anywhere like a mid or tweeter.
to add to that the best sound staging would be to have bass come from the front not the back anyways
Ok, I should have been more specific, location or direction is immaterial when dealing with these low frequencies. That's why you can put the bass unit on a home theater system anywhere in the room.

Kind of depends on the box design.. You really want the bass to come at you as if you are standing in the crowd facing the stage =)

I really don't see the purpose, unless you just want to feel the air moving over you. Short of being in an old school concert venue, before the advent of high performance stadium audio systems, where are you going to get that type of setup? Again, bass does not require a direction. The same reason why I can hear the subwoofer in the neighbor kids car three doors down from me, with the doors and windows closed in the house. None of the vocals are audible, yet I can hear/feel every beat.

Why do people do 2 subs instead of 1? If you really need your cavities shaken out, just do 1 12" instead of 2 10s. Easier and will create more than you need. There is barely any air in our cars.
My experience is from trying a 12" and a 15" (long term 15") in a Datsun 280ZX which is a hatchback and has the extra fake back seats and was much more than necessary. I can only imagine how a 12" will blow your mind in a 2 seater with much less air space.
I'm in the market for figuring out what I need to do also, and am thinking a 10" is going to be plenty for this vehicle. Plus, over time, more and more things will shake and rattle if you overdo it.
Im prob. Going to mold up a stealth box but maybe go 4 8" just to be different thats bore than 2 10" and they should sound clearer (recoverey on a smaller speaker) without paying 300 for 1 12.... Have one ? Will the polk audio db651s fit in the rear speaker loc. Crutchfield doesnt list them but they are more shallow than some of the 1s they list

just what I always read in car audio magazines that it is better to have bass at the front than the rear. Perhaps more car related to the cabin space to allow the waves to travel more ? not sure

How you place and aim a sub is actually very important. But for different reasons than higher frequency drivers.
The human ear, technically speaking, won't "locate" low frequency noises. However, sound that creeps in over your crossover, rattles, panel noises, phase, etc will help you locate your sub really fast.
Tuning it to mate up with your front speakers will "bring it up front." My subs sound like they come out of my center air vent. They're at the rear of the car.
2 subs over 1 = same volume, less distortion. in a sort of roundabout way.
