My cars tires do not have the sensors in them any longer, & everytime I start the car, I get the "Service TPM System", on my DIC. But I also use my key fob, & it uses the same "Receiver" unit in the trunk. My guess is I have to disconect the receiver in the trunk, & forget using my key fob. Am I correct? Thanks for any ideas/help, even if I might not want to hear what I already suspect.
From your profile you have a '99 FRC and an '04 Z06
In '01 the tpms changed from generation I to Generation II
the Gen 1 system in your '99 cannot be turned off.
The Gen II system in your '04 can... I know a GM Tech II scanner can do it.. I'm not sure about other devices like HP Tuners... perhaps others can post on that possibility.
Nope, can't be tuned out. You'll have to hit reset each time you start the car, or install sensors. (The older type, the newer ones won't work unless you upgrade to new fobs and receiver)
If you still have your old sensors, I can save you some big bucks by replacing the batteries in them. But you will need to get them installed or live with pushing the reset button every time you get in the car.
