Replaced the motor on the windshield wipers today and upon getting the car back together I tried the wipers. Swiped one time and the arm from the motor to the wiper transmission assembly popped off at the motor.
Pulled it apart again and popped the arm back on. Checked the linkage without the wipers and all appears well. Turned on the wipers without the wiper arms being attached and all was well. Re-attached the wipers and the link arm pops off. Tried it with just one wiper and it is ok. Does not matter which wiper but with both the arm pops off at the motor every time. At least I can have one wiper till I can get what parts are needed.
Physically removed the wiper transmission/motor assembly and exercised the linkage by hand. No binding noted.

Now my questions:
1 Is this a frequent problem with C5's?
2 Is there a retainer clip that holds the cup on or is it a snap fit?
3 Assuming the plastic cup has given up the ghost, is the cup a separate replaceable piece or is the entire arm replaced?
Hi Steve,
I read your response about the caps for the wiper transmission. I have the same problem with my wipers. I have a 2000. Where can you get the caps that attach?
Thanks,
Joe
I had the same issue....my fix was free with the help of a friend at work...here it is: A hole was drilled and tapped in the wiper transmission (where the arm pops on). I used a washer and a shoulder bolt going through the plastic piece (the hole drilled in the plastic cup slightly larger than the shoulder diameter on the bolt). Works like a charm!! I have had no issues! Sorry, no pics.
