Personally, I like stealthy OEM looks.....(not glossy to try and draw attention), but of course all of this is personal preference (some people are just the opposite and the more "bling" the better).
This is the paint scheme I have done for a few members that of course I also helped with the porting, not to mention will be exactly what I will go with on my next personal project which will hopefully be up and running by the spring of 09'....late this winter if things go better than expected.
It doesn't jump out at you....its matte finish just compliments everything else going on.
(This is a pic of a customers intake I finished recently)
Tony, that is the nicest I have seen! So....tell us how you did it! What paint & method-especially the red fast marking!
I guess mine's not what U'd call subtle & having seen Tony's, I might redo mine. Car's @ Madman's getting some intake & FMIC piping redone & ceramic coated but I found this over on LS1Tech.com & it's almost exactly what I have ( except this one's powder coated while mine's painted ). My car's painted a Mercedes ( yeah, I know but it's purty!! ) black pearl & the interior is black w/red accents so I went w/a red theme under the hood ( Red Top Optima; red silicone hose sections on the intake & FMIC piping; red MSD coils - U get the idea! ). Heck, even my stereo has a 13" Focal subwoofer which I've inverted to display the beautiful
( IMHO ) individual red magnets instead of hiding them inside the enclosure. I'll post pics of the car ( if I EVER complete it!! ) one of these days.
I preped with sand paper don't remember what grit but for about 1 hour. Taped everything off i thought i needed to tape. Bought some bull dog adhesion promoter (reccommended to me by some one who has done this befor) Sparied on 3 coats of the primer, 3 coats of dupont 500 degree semi gloss engine paint, and then I went to the hobby store and bought testers red paint marker and finished the fast. I think It came out great. Thanks mike
Sorry guys mines already for sale. I made 644rwhp and now i need a clutch instead of a fast mani. but keep the pics comming and this tread going. There is some nice stuff in here.
