I have a 1999 vert with 115,000 miles. No real issues. For the past two days, after the car is warmed up and on the road (freeway or residential) for a few miles, the "Service Traction Control" "Reduced Engine Power" and some other lights come on.
I will take it in to a great Corvette tuner we have locally. What should I expect to be the issue(s) from you guys who have had similar alerts?
Not sure what a tuner can do for you. The issues are with areas he can't touch. From the year of the car and the errors you are reporting it sounds like your car may not have the Active Handling option. Use the DIC to display your fault codes and report back here on the codes you find and what options you have on the car. To display the codes turn on the ignition, press and hold the options button and while holding it push the fuel button 4 times. The car will go into diagnostic mode and display any codes present in any of the subsystems on the car. Write down each code including any letters before or after the number, eg. Pxxxx C H, etc.
i have had this happen on a previous C5, and the culprit was moisture getting into the back wheel speed sensors, so cleaned them up and used dialectric grease and that cured it.
My current C5 has this happen when very wet out in the mornings, but reset the CPU with the dash panel and it is normally fine.
need to go thru all the sensors and do what i did above.
