Hi, i need some help fella's! I have a 2000 corvette and the a/c idlers are sqeaking. (the pullies are pretty well worn). The problem im having is that the parts im finding are all wrong. Goodyear lists part#49006 as being the right #, but it looks nothing like whats on there, plus it wont fit. Then part#49021 looks like the right one but this one has grooves in it, and mine dont. But if you look at the entire assembly listed though goodyear part#49297, that is the right pulley, but i dont need the tensioner. Anybody got any ideas? I found a gates that looked closer to what i was looking for, but still not an exact match to whats on there. The gates part#'s are 38008 & 38006, the diff between the two is that one has a bigger o.d then the other. I'd prefer to use the goodyears, but has anybody used the gates or kno off hand which is the right one? I'd check myself but i havent taken them off the car to find out what the factory pullies o.d is.
Thanks, but thats not it, thats similar to the gatorback part # 49021. That looks like the right pulley size, but the pulley on the car doesnt have the ribs/grooves on the ouside. The pulley thats on the car, the ouside is smooth and rides along the back side of the belt between the crank and a/c.
Thanks but sorry thats not it either, that one is way too wide. Plus when you take the old pulley off, the washer (not sure is thats the correct term, but you got the bolt, what im calling the washer, the pulley then theres another washer behind it, this is for the top idler, the bottom has all the same parts minus the back washer, the bottom ilder is really the a/c tensioner) thats holds the pulley wont fit inside the hole of the one your showing me. It'll end up rubbin against the pulley itself causing damage to the pulley. But look at the belt tensioner assembly on this same website, note that the pulley shown here isnt wide, nor does it have the rib/grooves in the pulley and its size. thats the one i need, but i dont need the tensioner. plus i need two, so i dont wanna buy two tensioners. i might have to bite the bullet and pay the dealer $65 bucks a piece for them. What a rip off for jus a pulley!
Here are the correct factory numbers for all pullies and tensioners

Thanks man, this helps me out alot! I jus can't believe that all auto parts stores across the board would have the wrong part#. Thats really amazing, thats motor was kept the same from 97-04, they've at least had 4+ years to get it together. And this seems to be a fairly common problem, wow! But anyways thanks again for the information, your time, and patiance. lmao, (BYOV), And the were actually more here, the dealer quoted them at $65 a piece, so yea that would've been right!
