I have a heads/cam '99 Coupe that has been tuned but seems to run extremely rich. It almost burns your eyes to stand behind it and really coats the pipes. Someone told me to run one step hotter plugs and this will help. What are your thoughts on this?

First check for codes. Are you running a different MAF? Sounds like it is out of whack. Try cleaning it with electrical cleaner. Your O2 sensors may be faulty.

Start with checking codes on your DIC.

I would first have it strapped to a dyno with wide band and check what the afr its running at. optimal is 12.8-12.9. Then have a reputable tuner make the necessary adjustments.

I don't have any codes but something tells me that it may be disconnected. I'm having other issues with it as well and will get in to those in another thread. I bought the car because the guy said that it was done right and didn't need anything. Guess that wasn't the case.

Thanks for the replies.

When a fuel injected car runs that rich as yours does, I would say the fuel pressure regulator is bad. I've seen that before on cars with that same thing happening.
Put a gauge on the fuel line and check the pressure that will tell you if its the regulator.
