Default FAST 92MM is it worth it?

Currently have a 01 heads and cam c5 making 420rwhp. just about to purchase a fast92mm setup. is it worth it on my current set up? what type of gains will i see? i am also going to most likely order the tnt 100hp nos to run with it. i figure for a total of 2 grand i can have a pretty mean runner.

Please advise if you think the fast 92 is worth it.

Contact IKESTER. He upgraded to a FAST 90 I believe a few months ago. His car has always ran great and it ran even better the last time we met up.

save yourself the 1300 bux and just throw an extra 20 shot of nitrous on and call it a day

The FAST 92 is what I am going with. When they started making the 92, they stopped making the FAST 90.

I am also going to get mine powder coated. Here is a sample of what it will look like (this is the older FAST 90):

There must be a hundred threads on this topic....use the search feature and be prepared to spend a lot of time.

In short, with a good heads/cam car it is worth it but "worth it" is all in the wallet of the beholder....

My opinion is to port the manifold as well which doubles your gains and reduces your HP per pony from the swap but of course your total investment will be higher. BUT....with a properly ported intake, 20+ more RWHP without ever pressing a button (NOS) is nice to have and once your on the low mid 400's to the wheel, you dont see big gains like that without dropping some serious coin. The more you make the more it costs to make more....kind of the inverse law of horsepower addiction....LOL

If you need some help or advice feel free to PM or call me

Cheers,
Tony

Yeah for h/c setups, its an incredible boost in power! just more power everywhere. With Z06 intake, i was at 384 rwtq, after mamo ported FAST 90/90, re-tune 402RWT!

dont know how you call that incredible.....18lbs of peak tq....my butt dyno wouldnt feel that and for 1300 bux(before a mamo port if thats what youre looking at)....now if your into going to the track the 2-3 tenths would make you feel like it was more worth it....i say if you plan on doing the nitrous just save the cash and throw a extra 20hp worth of nitrous on it
not a FAST **** or anything...being that i have one on my car...but i like doing mods a few at a time so at least i can say when im done...wow that feels faster for my own satisfaction

Your butt dyno would have to be asleep at the wheel not to feel it....I believe Ike picked up 22 RWHP if I recall (in addition to the solid torque gains) and even more HP gains than that past peak power (its important to look at the entire curve!). The increase in average power moves alot higher and its very noticable once your hammering away in the higher RPM's grabbing the next gear. Not to mention the seat of the pants from the swap feels like you picked up twice that. Ask anyone who's done it....

Im not BS'ing....I experienced it myself first hand as have many others....its a very rewarding mod for the money, albeit not an inexpensive one.

Relying on nitrous to make power is a disaster waiting to happen....When you spray reguraly enough its not a matter of will something eventually go wrong, its more a matter of how bad will it be when it does (just a blown head gasket or worse?).

Big power N/A costs money but its there all the time and its very relaible....and Im not a spray **** because I have a very well thought out and very capable single nozzle system in my car....I just dont need to use it very often because I choose to focus my emphasis on optimizing the N/A attributes of the engine.

If I roll up on someone making alot of power its there when I need it....purely an insurance policy if you will.

Tony

I picked up 34rwhp/17rwtq on my setup with the addition of a ported fast combo. $1100 for the intake/tb and 600 for install/tune = 1700/$50rwhp which ain't bad

haha like i said i have one on my car but if i was say making 450rwhp with my combo without the fast and added a fast and went to 470rwhp...my butt doesnt feel 20hp at that level....only reason i suggested adding 20hp more spray is because hes going to spray the car anyways
and yes i know big hp na costs money see sig

It would definitely help. Besides your not going to be spraying all the time, so having all the power you can when off the bottle is nice.

What he's saying is, you don't need both. Save the money if you're gonna gas it.

If you are going to spray it, I wouldn't spend the extra money on getting the FAST intake, just use more NO2.

How about having the stock intake manifold port and polish?

You can only polish a turd so much. Figure ~$450+ to get them p&p for negligible results... not for me.
