I have the original tire pressure monitors on my `98 vert. Recently I started getting low tire pressure readouts on my dash display within seconds after driving on cold tires. The pressure is OK however. Is this a sign the batteries in the monitors are worn out, or could it be something else? Originally the problem started in the LF, however now I get RF signals as well.
Tire pressure monitors give low pressure warning at 24PSI or lower. What is the pressure before the drive? Pressure increases as the tires warm up. Are the pressures borderline? 24 - 25 PSI cold?
You are in overtime on you sensor life span. When the battery starts to fail, your DIC will show XXX for tire pressure. Batteries typically last about 8 years. When your ready to get new ones, drop me a PM and I can save you a ton of money.
last year i was having the same problem on my 99 coupe. tire pressure indicator was throwing warnings at me left and right. darn thing wouldn't stop.
the official diagnosis that remedied the situation
