I know a number of you have installed the Next Step Exhausts without any problems but I've got a big problem. I received the next step exhausts for my '04 6 speed and just today brought them down to Performance Wheel & Tire to have installed. Well I got a call from them a short while after I dropped the car off saying the exhausts Didn't Line Up At All and that I needed to come down and take a look at them. Well when I got there my car was up on the lift and it was clear to see that the exhausts weren't lining up correctly.
I've got LG streets on the car and when the over the axle pieces of the exhaust were bolted up to the headers...the right pipe hits the rear differential and the left pipe actually is hitting the body where the C5 logo plate is displayed. I mean they aren't even close to fitting right. Anyone else run into this kinda problem?? I've called Next Step they said this is very unusual and am awaiting a call from Greg on Friday to see what can be done. I hope I'm not out the $559.00 I spent on the pipes. I really wanted them on the car but they simply don't fit. Oh by the way the OEM exhausts bolt up just fine.
Greg is good guy and will work with you to make it right.
Thanks for the reply...No I don't have any pics...wish I did....hope your right...I'm into the shop for the labor already but I just want the pipes to fit...
Sinister,
Are you running a set of the next steps....any problems with the installation??
I purchased a set a few months back, installed them myself in my garage and everything worked out great. Had a bit of trouble getting the tips to line straight, but finally got it all buttoned down.
The wife complained about the sound, she said it was to loud.
So I have since sold the system and put a Z06 Ti ystem on the car. I've gotten all the parts to do the by-pass mod on the Ti's but still need to find a local welder that can do the job.
You may want to check and make sure that the shop installed the over-the-axle pipes on the correct sides. It sounds to me like they needed to swap pipes. Just a thought...

Sounds like they put the over-axle pipes in backwards - there is a left side pipe and a right side pipe. Tell them to swap the pipes and it should fit fine.

I agree, sounds like they put the over the axle pipes on the wrong sides.
Thanks everyone for your help...my next step, no pun intended, is back to the shop and have them switch the pipes hope it works. I'll let you know. Thanks again.
Not yet, but I spoke with Greg at Next Step and he is Great!! No problems at all on his end. But after reading the replies from the forum members and all the great reviews for these exhausts on Next steps e-bay store....I really think I'm going to take them to someone else to have installed. I'm beginning to think there is a problem with the installernot the pipes.
