Re: Has anyone experienced the G-Tech Pro Performance Meter or equals?? (eikeland)
This topic is basically a weekly one on the forum and the consensus is the following
- They are VERY accurate on 0-60 and 1/4 mile
- Piece of cake to use
- RWHP is not terribly accurate
- 1/4 mile mph is diff from track only because drag strips use an avg over last 60 ft and g-tech shows speed at the instant you hit the 1/4 mile mark
I've used one and loved it. Great for practicing launches especially.

I've had one for about a year. The actual HP number isn't that accurate, but if the circumstances are always the same, it's a good way to judge HP increase after a mod. The 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are pretty accurate I think as well. I recently sold mine over the forum, now that I go to the track all the time, I really didn't need it any more. Plus, I don't really have any roads near my house where I could use it. You need a flat and straight section of road for it to work properly.

I have had one for a few years and it performs as advertised. It merely hooks up to the cigarette lighter input. It is basically a precision accelerometer that does the real work. We took it to the track a few times and the ET is accurate to within 0.1 sec or so with the mph being 3-5 mph higher because of its timing setup (speed measured at end of 1/4 mile rather than an average over the last 60 feet, which is what the strip does.
Its main disadvantage is the difficulty in consistently getting the same traction on city streets. The track obviously does this better. If like others I have talked to, you will "play" with it for a few months, then toss it in the drawer and forget about it.
