Default Summit Hi Torque Mini Starter

I ordered the LS1 Corvette starter from Summit:
http://store.summitracing.com/largei...m-820320_w.jpg
It does not fit my 2000 Convertible 6 Speed. The starter motor hits the oil pan. Does anyone know if there is 2 different oil pans or any other reason this does not fit my car? It has 4 different adjustments for position. None of them work.
Any help is much appreciated!!

Let me guess...it's hitting on the part of the oil pan that extends from the engine...kinda like wings in both directions...

Just doing a search through the summit applications pages for the starter you purchased....led me to believe it will fit on an LS2, LS3, etc. There are no wings on an LS2 like on the LS1/LS6 oil pan. One of the reasons why when a lot of guys do a rebuild on an LS1/LS6, they install an LS2 oil pan. ...which facilitates removal of the starter without dropping the exhaust.

Just call summit, they're pretty easy to deal with.

Yes I called them immediatly, I explained the billet mounting plate was skuffed from attempting to install and the rubber boot is stained. They said no problem for returning it. They insisted it was supposed to fit though lol! And yes it has been fun removing everything from the pass side including most of the exhaust system to get the stock one out!
I can replace the one on my 81 in about 10 mins, the C5 takes hours..
Oh well..

I think it will probably fit an F-Body LS1. They use a different pan.

You can change over to a LS2 oil pan, if you really need to.

Why do you think you need a high torque starter? The OEM starter will be fine in most any LS engine except extreme high compression applications.

It was 40 dollars cheaper then the stock one plus it has a billet mounting plate (mmmm billet) and has more hp/torque then stock. How could I go wrong?
Oh yeah ... It did not fit!

What part of the starter was hitting the oil pan? The "billet" (mmm_m_m) part of the starter has different holes so the starter motor can be "clocked" for clearance.

Yes I tried all angles, the starter motor will not allow the mounting plate to sit flush because it hits the wing on the side of the oil pan. It was not even close to fitting. I returned it and paid $200.00 for a new one from Auto Zone. It is all back together and working great now.
Basicly if your oil pan has wings, you need a stock starter. I knew I should not have spilled that Red Bull on the engine....
